Multiple Teams · Bears begin new era by upsetting 7th ranked Centerville

It wasn’t exactly the best weather for the “Boys of Summer” but Monroe Central’s baseball program opened a new era under first-year coach Keith Nunley on a high note Monday.

The Golden Bears opened the 2016 campaign with a 6-5 victory over 7th ranked Centerville.

Coach Nunley said, “it was a great team effort. We are preaching team and I would like to keep my comments about the team. John wooden once said ‘it’s amazing how much can be accomplished when nobody cares who gets the credit.’ The team, for the most part, played that way last night.”

The JV team plays host to New Castle this evening, while the varsity Bears will be back in action Wednesday when they host Class 1A 4th ranked Daleville in their MEC opener.
