Multiple Teams · 5th ranked Tigers hand MC first loss


Class 3A 5th ranked Yorktown used a 9-run fifth inning to put away a 14-2 victory over Monroe Central Wednesday.

The Golden Bears trailed 2-1 after one inning and 3-2 after two innings. Yorktown had built a 5-2 lead going into the 5th when the nine-run explosion ended the game early.

The Tigers used a pair of 2-run homers in the first inning and in the fifth to help them improve to 5-0.

The Bears will host Union in their first MEC game of the year on Friday, then bring in Class A 9th ranked Hagerstown (2-1) on Saturday for a 10 a.m. varsity game to be followed by a JV game.
