Multiple Teams · Lady Bears drop 3rd straight to ranked foes

Three nights in a row the honorable mention (21st ranked) Monroe Central varsity softball team faced a foe as highly regarded. Thursday night the Lady Bears took on honorable mention (26th ranked) and possible sectional foe Shenandoah, dropping a 14-8 contest.

This came on the heels of losses to 7th ranked Tri and 6th ranked Elwood as the Lady Bears are now 4-4 on the year.

Shenandoah was powered by a grand slam during the night as they overcame an early 3-2 Lady Bear advantage.

The Lady Bears were led in hitting by Jocelyn Peckham with three singles, while Mikaela McGrath added a pair of doubles.

MC led after one inning, but their state leading offense went silent until the bottom of the 7th inning when they added four runs.

The Bears are back into conference play Monday hosting Randolph Southern with game time at 5 p.m.
