Thirteen hits, six of them doubles, led an offensive eruption for Monroe Central Tuesday evening as they defeated Tri High, 13-2.
The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead but Tri came back and after two innings it was a 2-2 deadlock. Monroe Central then scored 11 times in the next 3 innings to improve to 9-4 on the year.
Nakaya Brown led the Bears going 3-for-4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI’s, a double and a stolen base. Brady Jones was 2-for-4 with 3 runs, 1 RBI, a double and a stolen base and Seth Wilson was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a double and a steal.
Wyatt Snyder, who just broke his jaw a week ago, was back on the field and at a high level. He was 2-for-4 with a run, a double, and a stolen base.
Casey Conatser was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs, Derek Goodman doubled and scored, Lane Lewis singled, and Logan Conklin scored 3 runs.
Brayton Miller started and picked up the win allowing 2 hits, 0 earned runs and fanning 3 in 2 innings of work. Goodman threw 2 scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout and Cody Mieth pitched a scoreless inning.
Monroe Central will travel to Wes-Del tonight for a Strikeout Cancer game at 5 p.m. It is also an MEC contest.
