Not much didn’t go right for Monroe Central’s baseball team Thursday evening, as the Bears rolled over Randolph Southern 13-0.
The Bears are now 5-1 and have set the stage to earn a at least a share of the MEC title when they host Wapahani on Thursday, May 19. MC improved to 12-7 overall.
Several players stepped up including sophomore pitcher Tucker Young who was one 2nd inning single away from a perfect game. The righty threw a complete game allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, and fanning five. The lone hit allowed led off the 2nd inning, but Young followed it up with a strikeout and forging to groundouts.
At the plate, junior catcher Logan Conklin was clicking. Conklin was 3-for-3 with two runs, 5 RBI’s, a stolen base, and a 3-run homer.
Beau Combs was a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 runs and a double, Brady Jones was 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI, and Seth Wilson was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a stolen base. Nakya Brown was 1-for-3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI’s and a double, Wyatt Snyder was 1-for-3 with a double and a run, and Casey Conaster picked up an RBI on a sac fly.
The Bears will host Whitko Saturday morning in a doubleheader at 9 a.m. at Ball State University’s field.
