Tucker Young threw no-hit ball in his 3 innings of work and Wyatt Snyder provided the offensive fireworks as Monroe Central downed county rival Winchester, 10-2, Wednesday.
Sophomore hurler Tucker Young threw 3 scoreless, hit-less innings striking out 3 on the hill.
During those first three innings when Young held the Falcons at bay, Brady Jones had an RBI single, while Wyatt Snyder had an RBI triple and a 2-run bomb to help the Bears to a 5-0 lead.
In the 4th inning, Cody Mieth had a 1-out single and with 1 out the Bears erupted for 4 more runs. Beau Combs singled and went to 2nd on a passed ball. Two Winchester errors later, Logan Conklin had an RBI single and Jones had an RBI triple. It was 9-0 after four innings.
Tyler Bunner allowed an unearned run in 3 innings of relief while fanning 2 and Conklin threw the final inning allowing an unearned run and striking out one.
For the game, Snyder was 2-for-3 with a run, 2 hits, 3 RBI’s and the difficult part of the cycle with a triple and home run.
Jones continued his hot hitting going 2-for-3 with a run, 2 RBI’s, a triple and a stolen base. Jones is now 9-for-16 over his last 5 games with 6 runs, 6 RBI’s, 3 triples and a double.
Beau Combs was 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI; Seth Wilson was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 1 RBI, and a stolen base; Nakya Brown scored twice and stole 3 bases; Conklin was 1-for-3 with an RBI; Casey Conatser singled and scored; Derek Goodman singled, and Mieth was 1-for-2 with a run.
The Bears are now 15-8 and will play for at least a share of the MEC title Thursday when they host Wapahani at 5 p.m.
