In a close junior high boys Randolph County track meet, Monroe Central ended up in 3rd place Wednesday evening at Union City. Driver swept the boys and girls titles with a score of 87, while Union City was 2nd at 69, and the JH Bears placed 3rd at 57. Randolph Southern collected 36 points and Union had 1.
Justice Earhart won the 110 Hurdles, Noel Childress took the high jump title, and the 4 x 400 Relay team of Childress, Brady Hiatt, Malcolm Armour, and Brayden Case took first.
Runner-up on the night was Jaime Hancock in the discus, while placing 3rd were Caden Shumaker in the mile, the 4 x 100 relay team of Justin Hoyt, Isaac Morgan, Childress and Case, Hiatt in the 400 M Dash, Morgan in the 200, and Hoyt in the Shot Put.
Other places on the night were Armour 4th in the high jump and long jump, and 5th in the hurdles, Case 4th in the 100, Carter Miller 4th in the mile and 7th in the 800, Hancock 6th in 400, Shumaker 5th in the half mile, Earhart 4th in the Shot Put and 6th in the long jump.
