Multiple Teams · Two big innings lift Bears to 12-2 win over Union City

Monroe Central scored 11 times over two innings and senior Derek Goodman pitched a complete game Tuesday evening as the Bears defeated Union City, 12-2.

MC took a 1-0 lead only to have the Indians response with two runs and lead 2-1 through three innings. The Bear erupted for 5 runs in the fourth and 6 more in the fifth to improve to 5-3 on the year.

Goodman held Union City to 5 hits and two earned runs while striking out three and walking one.

Offensively. Logan Conklin was 2-for-4 with two runs, a double, and 4 RBI’s. Wyatt Snyder was 2-for-3 with a run, a double, 3 stolen bases and 3 RBI’s.

Goodman helped his own cause with a 2-run double and a run scored. Nick Cox had 2 runs and 2 RBI’s, and Seth Wilson and Tucker Young each scored twice.

The Bears will open MEC play tonight as they host Blue River.
