Multiple Teams · Lady Bears stay undefeated in MEC with 12-1 win over Randolph So.


The Monroe Central Lady Bears stayed perfect in the conference defeating Randolph Southern, 12-1, Monday night. That puts MC at 3-0 in the MEC and 4-3 overall.

Jordyn Barga got the victory for the Bears and Faith Cope lead the Bears in hitting.

The Lady Bears put up 4 in the top of the 1st inning after Faith Cope reached base, stole 2nd, and moved to 3rd on Samantha Roderick’s hit. Jo Jo Peckham’s hit drove in a run and moved Roderick to 3rd. Barga grounded out to drive a run and give the the Bears a 2-0 lead.
Cassi Buis collected an RBI single and Paige Willen’s hit drove in the 4th run of the inning.
In the bottom of the 1st, Barga struckout the first two batters before Dalzell got one of the Rebels’ three hits  – but Dalzell was thrown out trying to steal 2nd by Peckham.
In the 2nd, Laura Stoops reached on an error, stole 2nd and 3rd, and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
In the Rebels half of the 2nd, a lead off double by Wissel ended in their only run of the game, as she later scored on a wild pitch.
In the 4th inning MC added 2 more runs making the score 7-1.  Roderick and Lauren Yates scored on a triple by Barga.
In the 6th inning the Bears pushed 5 more across the plate making the score 12-1.
Cassi. Buis, Mabrey Buis, and Willen had consecutive hits with Willen  picking up her second RBI of the contest. Stoops’ base hit bunt loaded the bases for Faith Cope, who smashed a 3-run triple. Cope later scored on a deep sacrifice fly to left by Roderick.
Monroe Central will host Hagerstown in a makeup game tonight, then will host Delta on Wednesday, Union County on Thursday and will host Bluffton, Blackford and Southern Wells in their invitational this Saturday,
