The Monroe Central Lady Bears lost to the top ranked 2A team Union County Patriots Thursday evening, 8-0.

The Lady Bears entered the game as one of the top scoring teams in the state – but were shut out by the top ranked Patriots collecting only three hits.

Monroe Central got a good game from Adrianna Hardy on the mound only allowing the high powered Patriots offense 9 hits and 4 earned runs as the defense committed 4 miscues.

Faith Cope reached base twice on a walk and a single, while Jordyn Barga added a base hit and Mabrey Buis had a double.

The Lady Bears (5-6) host the Monroe Central Invitational Saturday and face Southern Wells at 10 a.m. The winner will face the winner of Blackford – Bluffton for the championship or in the consolation.
