Multiple Teams · Defending state champ Broncos hand MC first MEC loss

Daleville scored 8 unearned runs Monday evening as the Class A 8th ranked defending champion Broncos defeated Monroe Central, 10-3.

The Broncos took advantage of their opportunities and put up a 7-spot in the second inning. After the Bears scored all 3 of their runs in the 3rd, Daleville tagged on their final 3 in the 4th to improve to 11-4.

Seth Wilson and Logan Conklin collected 4 of the Bears’ 5 hits. Wilson was 2-for-3 with a 2-run home run while Conklin was 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Tucker Young collected the other hit and scored on Wilson’s long ball.

Derek Goodman pitched 4 innings in the game allowing 11 hits, 2 earned runs, two walks and he fanned two. Working ib relief, Cody Mieth went 2 innings allowing one walk.

The Bears, 9-6, will host Tri tonight and Wes-Del on Wednesday.
