Monroe Central got off to a quick start Wednesday night and never took their foot off the gas in defeating Union City in the Randolph County semi-finals, 13-1.
Due to the spring weather and all the scheduling challenges, the championship game will be the regularly scheduled game at Winchester on Wednesday, May 17. The Falcons defeated Randolph Southern earlier in the week to advance.
Senior Derek Goodman held UC to five hits, one earned run, while walking one and striking out two.
The Bears came out swinging and collected 10 hits on the night. Logan Conklin was 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBI’s, a triple and a stolen base. Seth Wilson was 2-for-3 with 3 runs and two RBI’s with a stolen base. Tucker Young hit a solo home run, Brady Jones had a 2-run double and scored, Wyatt Snyder had a 2-run single and scored, Goodman drove in 2 runs in the first inning on a bunt that turned into an infield hit. Nick Cox was 1-for-1 with 2 runs, Cody Mieth drove in a run, and Logan Patterson scored a run.
The Bears game with Randolph Southern has been moved to MC tonight at 5 p.m.
