Multiple Teams · Bears end regular season with loss to Cowan; preparing for Wednesdays sectional game

A game that was on its 3rd scheduled date finally got played Monday night – despite the fact that it is sectional week.

The MEC game between Monroe Central and Cowan ended with the Blackhawks handing the Bears a 9-0 loss, its fourth in a row to end the regular season.

Sophomore Tyler Haney pitched a complete game for the Bears, who fell to 14-10.

The Class 2A Sectional 40 at Lapel opens Wednesday night with the Bears taking on Shenandoah (8-9) who has lost 4 of their last 6 games but the wins came over Daleville and Wapahani.

Game two will be Muncie Burris (0-10) against Wapahani (13-11) who has won 4 of their last 6 games.

Thursday night those winners will face off first with game two pitting 6th ranked Frankton (20-3) up against neighboring rival Lapel (10-8) in game two.

The championship is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
