Junior Faith Cope led off the game for Monroe Central with a home run Monday night, but it was last hurrah. Alexandria defeated the Lady Bears 14-1 in the Class 2A Frankton Sectional.
After MC took the 1-0 lead, Alex came back with 7 runs in their half of the inning. The Lady Tigers added 2 in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th to seal the deal.
Jordyn Barga, Adrianna Hardy and Cope all saw time in the circle allowing 10 hits, 11 earned runs, while walking 5. Four defensive errors hampered the MEC effort.
At the plate, Cope led MC with a 2-for-3 night, the only runs and RBI, while Mabrey Buis tripled and JoJo Peckham singled.
Monroe Central ended the year with a 13-8 record, the first ever MEC title and a Randolph County title to their credit.
