Multiple Teams · Bears get highest finish ever at Greenville; Norris in Top 10 for girls


Monroe Central cross country teams competed in the Treaty City Invitational Saturday at Greenville, Ohio where the boys had their best finish ever and senior Aubrey Norris finished in the top 10 of the girls race.

 

The Bears finished 5th out of 22 teams led by junior Conner Miller who finished 15th in 17:23. Junior Zane Jear was 17th in 17:28 and junior Dalton Winans was 21st in 17:29.

Junior Riley Moulton was 45th in 18:17, senior TJ Thompson was 64th in 18:46, freshman Caden Shumaker was 66th in 18:48, and senior Gavin Sampley was 82nd in 19:21. Rounding things out for MC were senior Caleb Winans 108th in 20:09 and sophomore Noel Childress 125th in 20:42.

 

The Lady Bears finished 12th out of 16 teams, paced by senior Aubrey Norris’ top 10 finish. Norris placed 7th in 20:08.

Sophomores Gabby Beckham and Hannah Bolton were 44th and 45th, respectively with times of 22:08 and 22:13. Junior Madyson Davison was 54th in 24:36, junior Adriahn Hindsley was 121st in 24;30, freshman Emma Formaneck was 125th in 24:36, and sophomore Saij Sampley was 167th in 26:34. Freshman Claudia Lambert was 203rd in 29:34.

“The Bears held their own in a highly talented field of Ohio runners,” said coaches Ron and Ross Braun. “Sixteen out of the seventeen runners ran a season best today, proving that everyone is working hard and continuing to improve.”
