The Monroe Central junior high cross country teams ran in a dual meet at Selma Middle School Wednesday night. Both MC teams came away victorious.
The girls took the win with a score of 18. 7th grader Karly Puckett finished in the lead with a time of 13:09, overtaking the lead Selma runner with about ¼ mile to go.
Puckett was followed by Gracie Baker (2nd), Katie Osborne (4th), Addison Coe (5th), Addy Puckett (6th), Kelsie Gaddis (9th), and Ariana Poe (10th).
Other girls that ran well included: Bella Budreau (16th), Lilly Garner (18th), Sydney Patterson (22nd), Sophie Budreau (23rd), Alivia Arvin (24th), Nadine Crawford (26th), Kylie Pyle (27th), Abby Norvell (28th), and Kaylee Swift (29th).
The boys team won over the Selma Braves by a score of 24-32.
8th grader Carter Miller was the winner with a time of 11:18. He was followed by a tough pack of MC runners including Caden Landis (4th), Tucker Burris (5th), Kyler Shumaker (6th), Eli Chamberlain (8th), and James Daniels (10th).
Other boys that ran well were: Hayden Taylor (15th), Nathan Daniels (23rd), Grant Rees (25th), Trystyn Thornburg (26th), Austin Swhier (27th), Gabe Rees (34th), Zayne Sampley (35th), Lane Dance (36th), Jaxon Crawford (44th), Hunter Page (45th), Wyatt Burris (48th), Orrin Morris (49th), Jack Cooper (50th), Lane Anderson (56th), and Ryland Hendey (58th).
Both teams will run next on Saturday in the Blackford Invitational.
