Four runners placed in top 20 Saturday at the Delta Sectional, as Monroe Central placed 2nd and advanced to the Regional this weekend back at the Sports Plex.
Muncie Central claimed the Sectional crown with 62 points, while the Bears came in 2nd at 84 points. Rounding out the Top 5 that advanced are Wapahani 3rd with 86 points, Delta in 4th with 87 points and Muncie Burris 5th with 124 points.
Competing in the Sectional were Cowan in 6th with 161 points, Winchester was 7th with 169 points, Jay County was 8th with 197 points, Randolph Southern was 9th with 198 points, and in 10th place was Union City with 261 points.
Junior Conner Miller led the Bears in 6th place in 17:31.4. Three others placed in the top 20 with junior Dalton Winans 14th in 18:03.8, junior Zane Kear in 18th in 18:22.0, and senior Gavin Sampley 19th in 18:28.8.
Freshman Caden Shumaker was 27th in 18:45.8, junior Riley Moulton was 29th in18:48.0, and senior TJ Thompson placed 38th in 19:16.6.
The five teams advancing from Pendleton Heights to round out next Saturday’s Delta Regional are Pendleton Heights, Mt. Vernon, Lapel, MEC champion Blue River, and Anderson.
