Multiple Teams · 4th ranked Lady Bears open at Cowan on Tuesday

Fans will get their first look at the 4th ranked Lady Bears Tuesday night as they open the 2017-18 campaign on the road in a Mid-Eastern Conference game at Cowan.

MC, 24-3 and regional runner-ups a year ago, have great balance and did not lose a player from last year’s squad. Cowan is 0-1 this year after a 11-11 record a year ago.

The Lady Bears have as much balance as any team around. Speed helps with the press and one of the top defenses in the state. Shooting – well MC had five players hit 3-pointers in the Jamboree and there is a threat of even more weapons from outside. With the presence of a pair of 6-footers, MC can control the paint. The depth is greater than most teams and will offer Coach Leigh Ann Barga somewhere to turn when help is needed.

Senior Abigail McGrath will open the year 77 points away from 1,000 career points trying to become only the 4th Lady Bear to accomplish such a feat.

MC’s game with Union scheduled for Friday night will be rescheduled due to the football Regional being hosted by Monroe Central. No date has been set – keep an eye out as several events are being rescheduled.
