Monroe Central’s junior high Lady Bears opened the season Monday night splitting with county rival Driver.
The 8th grade Lady Bears won by a score of 30-25.
“We handled the pressure of the Hawks late in the game by hitting our free throws down the stretch. We played outstanding defense and the win was a total team effort,” said Coach Bracken Barga.
The 7th grade score was 65-5 with Driver coming out on top of a short-handed MC squad. “We played a tough game, and we had a good second quarter. The girls showed a lot of heart during the game and didn’t give up,” said Coach Emma Rae Roberts.
The ladies will be back in action Thursday, November 30 at Daleville.
