Girls Varsity Basketball · Lady Bears win 69-37 in semi-finals, headed to title game 25-0

Monroe Central did not come out of the gates slow Friday night. The Lady Bears doubled up on Sheridan in the first quarter and won the semi-final match-up by a score of 69-37.

Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. the Lady Bears (25-0) will take on the host Frankton Eagles (20-5) for a shot to advance to the Eastern Regional. (see capsule below)

After trading 3’s early, MC broke open a 6-6 tie and led 16-8 at the first break. The Lady Bears kept it going in quarter two and extended their lead to 31-14 at the half.

Each team put up 19 points in the 3rd quarter and the Lady Bears were on top 50-33 heading into the final 8 minutes.

In the last quarter, MC outscored Sheridan 19-4 to seal their ticket to the final.

The Lady Bears were led by sophomore Hannah Bolton and junior Jordyn Barga with 20 points apiece. Senior Abigail McGrath poured in 13, while with 4 each were senior Bailey Duncan and sophomore Hannah McCollum. Getting 2 points apiece were Kinzie Williams, Katie Pike, Marissa Huddleston, and Brooke Bolton.


The fan bus for the title game will leave the school at 5:45 p.m. Gates will open around 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Bears need fans to come out in droves. Frankton is the host school, their band will be present, and their fans will show up. We need to have as many Lady Bear fans as we can their to support MC in their quest for a 2nd straight sectional title. Adults let’s deck the Eagles Nest out in brown and gold Saturday night!
