Monroe Central’s C team had not played since December 30th in a victory over Blackford, but Wednesday night came out hitting on all cylinders defeating Cowan by a score of 56-33.
The C team Bears came out and took a 14-8 first quarter lead and after outscoring the Blackhawks 15-3 in the second quarter led 29-11 at the half. Mason Merchand came out with 9 points in the opening quarter, while Bryce Deckman and Colton Bradley led the second quarter charge with 6 points apiece.
Landan Patterson scored 7 points in the 3rd quarter as MC extended their lead to 42-20 after three quarters. Bradley led 5 different players scoring in the 4th with 5 points as the Bear wrapped up a 23 point win.
Four players reached double-figures on the night with Merchand and Bradley leading the way with 15 apiece. Patterson scored 14 and with 10 was Deckman. Caden Shumaker added 2 points in the win.
Coach Rick Brown has stated this will be his last year coaching after 20 years. If that holds true he won his last game in The Den as is team improved to 2-1.
“All the kids did a really good job,” said Brown. “It was a great team effort.”
The C team Bears will finish up Monday at Liberty Christian.
