Winning their 5th game in a row, Monroe Central defeated Muncie Central tonight 12-4 to improve to 5-2 on the year.
Casey Conatser got things started with an RBI single in the first inning. The Bears scored a single tally in the 2nd and added three in the 3rd to go up 5-0. A single tally crossed the plate in the 4th to make it 6-0 before the Bearcats scored 4 times in the bottom of the 4th.
The Bears increased their lead to 7-4 in the 5th then in the 7th inning sent five runners across the plate.
Jordan Willen, Bryce Deckman, Wyatt Snyder, Taft Manship and Conatser each had RBI’s in the 7th.
Braden Case started and picked up the win for the Bears. Case went four innings, allowing five hits, four runs, one earned run, and struckout three. Caden Shumaker worked three innings in relief allowing only two hits while fanning two batters.
Conatser had three hits including a double with two runs and one RBI, while Tucker Young was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, one run scored and one RBI.
Keith Friddle was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI’s, Deckman was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and one RBI, Snyder had a two-run double, Seth Wilson singled, stole three bases and scored three runs, and Willen singled and scored.
The Golden Bears will travel to Hagerstown on Saturday for a doubleheader.
