The Monroe Central Boys’ varsity track team placed 5th out of a 12 team field today at the Saturday at the Churubusco Invitational on a cold and wet day.
Host Churubusco won the event with 121 points, while Woodlan was a close 2nd at 110. Third place went to Wabash with 73 points, while Elkhart Christian Academy was 4th at 65, and the Golden Bears 5th at 57.
Rounding out the field were Manchester and Garret tied for 6th at 51.5, Eastside was 8th at 35, Jimtown 25.5, Fremont 15, Culver Academy 12, and Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian 7.5.
Senior Nick Mitchell was champion in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.
Junior Kamron Caldwell won the long jump and tied for second in the 100 m dash
Caldwell, Braydon Earls, Malcom Armour and Mitchell placed third in the 4 x 100 relay.
Junior Zane Kear placed fourth in the 400 m dash and senior Kobe Brown placed 7th in the shot put.
Both track teams will host Muncie Burris on Tuesday.
