Elwood scored four times in the bottom of the 6th Monday night to slip past Monroe Central, 9-6, in a varsity baseball game.
The Bears were limited to five hits and made six errors leading to only two earned runs in the loss.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the second but the Bears came back with one in their half of the 3rd. Elwood made it 5-1 thru three innings before the Bears scored one in the 5th and four in the 6th to take a 6-5 lead. The 3-run sixth gave the Panthers the win.
Bryce Deckman started and went four innings allowing five hits, five runs, and two earned runs. Keith Friddle threw 1 1/3 innings giving up one hit and two unearned runs. Caden Shumaker pitched 2/3 of an inning where 2 unearned runs scored.
The offense was led by the 1-2 punch for leadoff man Seth Wilson who had two hits and scored twice and Wyatt Snyder who was2-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Braden Case had a 3-run double, Deckman scored and had an RBI, and scoring one run apiece were Taft Manship, Casey Conatser, and Jordan Willen.
The Bears, now 10-8, will travel to Richmond on Wednesday to play at McBride Stadium at 6 p.m.
