Girls Varsity Track · Lady Bears finish 3rd in MEC; Haney is high jump champion

The Monroe Central girls track team placed third in the Mid-Eastern Conference Championship held last evening at MC. Eastern Hancock won the team title with 113 points edging Wapahan i woth 106. The Lady Bears were 3rd with 88 points.

Rounding out the field were Shenandoah 77.5, Daleville 75.5, Blue River 54, Randolph Southern 40, Union 15, Cowan 10, and Wes-Del 6.

“We had many outstanding performers and efforts,” said Coach Preston Proctor.

Junior Miranda Haney was the lone MC girl champion as she won the high jump in 5 ‘ 1.”

Senior Marissa Huddleston placed 6th in the 100 Hurdles and a close second in the 300 Hurdles.
Senior Bailey Duncan placed 7th in the 100 m, 5th in the 200 m and was on the second place 4 x 400 relay team of Gabby Beckham, Aubrey Norris, and Huddleston.
Senior Aubrey Norris placed second in the 1600 m and 3200 m runs and 4th in the 800 m.
Sophomore Gabby Beckham placed 4th in the 400 m and 3rd in the 1600 m.
Freshman Katana Bracero placed 5th in the 100 m and 6th in the 200 m.
Sectional for the girls team is next Tuesday at Delta.
