Boys Varsity Baseball · Bears use 5-run inning to win MEC game over Rebels, 7-3

Trailing 3-0 after three innings Saturday, Monroe Central scored two times in the 4th and five times in the 5th to defeat Randolph Southern, 7-3.

Keith Friddle allowed only 1 earned run and 3 hits over 6 innings while striking out four. Caden Shumaker threw a perfect 7th inning to wrap up the MEC win and help the Bears improve to 11-9.

At the plate, Seth Wilson, Wyatt Snyder and Taft Manship each had two hits in the game, while Jordan Willen had a 2-run single.

Manship was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, while Snyder drove in a run and scored, Wilson scored once, Friddle had an RBI, Tucker Young and Casey Conatser each singled and scored, Braden Case doubled and Calvin King scored a run.

The Bears will travel to play last week’s Class 2A #1 team in South Adams (20-2). It is the beginning of a busy week for MC who host Cowan, Winchester and Wapahani Tuesday thru Thursday.
