Girls Varsity Softball · Lady Bears fall to Jay Co., Wes-Del


Tuesday night Jay County  scored their runs in clumps as they pulled away late to a 10-5 win over Monroe Central.

Jay County took a 6-0 lead in the 2nd inning but the Lady Bears were within 6-5 after 5 innings. Jay scored 4 times late in the game to make 10-6. MC had 2 runners on who Jay County’s leftfielder trekked down a shot down the leftfield line to stop a possible MC rally.

Jordyn Barga pitched a complete game, while Faith Cope had an estimated 240-foot blast on Senior Night.

Wednesday Wes-Del came out scoring 7 times in the first inning with four home runs en route to a 15-4 win over the Lady Bears.

Cope threw a complete game for MC with 3 strikeouts. Samantha Roderick hit a long home run for the Lady Bears.

 

Friday night at 5 p.m. MC will host Randolph Southern. The Lady Bears will travel to South Adams Saturday for an Invitational where the host Starfires will face Wabash and the Lady Bears will take on Fort Wayne Dwenger. MC will then play in the Lapel Sectional on Monday against Alexandria.
