Boys Varsity Track · MC Bears break records, advance to Regional in 5 events

The Monroe Central Boys Varsity Track team broke three school records and had numerous personal records as the Bears send 5 athletes to the North Central Regional next week.

-Junior Kamron Caldwell placed second in the long jump but broke a 1984 Monroe Central record with a jump of 21′ 10.” Kamron had three consecutive jumps of over 21.’
– Senior Nick Mitchell broke his own school records in successfully defending his Sectional Championships in the 110 and 300 Hurdles.  In the 110 Hurdles he won by over a second with a time of 14.44.  In the 300 he won with a time of 39.68 in another school record time.
-Junior Zane Kear placed third in the 400 with a regional qualifying time of 52.60.
-The 4 x 400 Relay team of Malcolm Armour, Dalton Winans, Zane Kear and Nick Mitchell qualified for Regional with a season best time of 3:34.43 for third.  Both Mitchell and Kear ran splits of 51 seconds.
Other outstanding performances were turned in by:
-Sophomore Logan Swallow who threw personal bests in both the shot and discus and scored in the Shot.
-Junior Malcolm Armour placed 8th in the 300 hurdles and placed fifth in the Long Jump with a personal best leap of 20′ 2.”
