Boys Varsity Golf · Ryder Jones named Randolph County AOTW


Ryder Jones, freshman member of the Monroe Central boys golf team, golf, has earned this week’s Randolph County “Athlete of the Week” honors, sponsored by WZZY/Star 98.3FM in Winchester and the Wetzel Auto Group.

Monroe Central shot a team best 329, at least in the last several years, on their way to a 2nd straight Randolph County title on May 5 at the Winchester Golf Club. Jones was County Runner-up with a 77 and named All-County.

In a sweep of Muncie Burris and Seton Catholic at Cardinal Hills, the Golden Bears won with a team score of 160. Leading the way was freshman Ryder Jones who turned in a 38.

Monroe Central’s boys golf team continued to have success as they defeated City, 170-199. Jones shot a 43 on the course.

Monroe Central’s golf team captured the Mid-Eastern Conference title edging Daleville, 346-353, at Crestview. Monroe Central’s top finisher was freshman Ryder Jones in 4th place with an 84 which earned him All-MEC honors.

Jones has led the Bears most of the season as MC has defeated Richmond twice and won the Muncie Burris Invitational title with Jones being the individual champion as well.
