Monroe Central ended the regular season Thursday with an 18-3 loss to Wapahani on senior night.
Senior Tucker Young went out with an injury in the 2nd inning after holding Wapahani to a single tally in the first and retiring 5 of 7 hitters he had faced. Freshman Caden Shumaker came and shut the Class 2A 6th ranked Raiders out thru the 3rd inning while MC built a 3-1 lead.
MC got on the board in the 2nd and tied the game at 1-1. Casey Conatser walked, advanced on an error and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Braden Case.
The Bears took a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning when Wyatt Snyder doubled and scored on an errant throw while stealing 3rd base. Taft Manship was hit by a pitch and advanced on a wild pitch. Chandler Hoel sacrificed Manship to 3rd who then scored on an RBI single by Conatser.
MC had runners on base in 6 of the 7 innings and left 10 runners on base during the game.
Wapahani took the lead at 4-3 in the 4th after Brevan Rivers led off the inning with a solo home run. Two MC errors benefited the Raiders in the inning.
The Raiders extended the lead to 7-3 in the 5th as Drew Young hit a 3-run home run. Wapahani added 2 in the sixth inning and scored 9 times in the 7th. Wapahani had 2 bunt singles to open the game and finished with 5 for the game in collecting 20+ hits in the game.
Monroe Central was led by seniors Snyder who was 3-for-4 with a double, and a run scored, and Conatser who was 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI, and a pair of walks. Senior Keith Friddle was 1-for-4.
The Bears end the regular season at 13-10, while Wapahaiu improved to 17-7. Both teams are in the Frankton baseball sectional that starts next Wednesday.
