Monroe Central competed at the Ben Davis track regional on Tuesday evening, setting personal record, breaking school records, and advancing to the State Finals.
There were 27 teams represented at the regional with Brebeuf winning with 86 points and the Lady Bears placing 20th.
The biggest news from the night didn’t arrive until midday Wednesday when coach Preston Proctor learned that junior Miranda Haney would be competing at the State Finals in the high jump. Haney reached a season best 5′ 3″ Tuesday night and will go into the State meet ranked 17th out f 29 jumpers.
Senior Aubrey Norris went out on top with a school record and a season best time. Norris broke her own school record in the mile with a time of 5:30.47, finishing 13th in the event. In the 3200 race she ran to a season best 12:13.05 to place 11th.
Senior Marissa Huddleston placed 11th in the 300 hurdles finals with a season best time of 48.42.
Senior Bailey Duncan competed in the 200 meter dash and had a time of 29.93.
The State Finals will be on Friday, June 1 at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex, Indiana University, Bloomington. Times and other information will be released at a later time.
