Both 7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball defeat Hagerstown

7th Grade: The 7th Grade Lady Bears traveled to Hagerstown on Monday evening and tamed the host Tigers, winning in convincing fashion by a score of 42-22 and improving to 11-0 on the season. The young Bears came out of the gate strong and never looked back, sparked by Delainee Whitehead’s 9 first quarter points. The Bears saw the floor well, executed their offense with selfless passing and were locked in on the defensive end. Peyton Myers provided a great spark off the bench, tracking down several loose balls and rebounds. Alexa Tinsman, Mabrey Cheesman and Scarlett Davis contributed with tough defense and hustle plays of their own. Remmie Morrison owned the paint with solid post moves and assisted on several baskets. Jazmyn Ford, Harper Whitehead, Kendall Johnson, Amelia Brown and Alayna Dickson all played well and contributed in the victory. Scoring for the Bears were Delainee Whitehead with 16, Alexa Tinsman with 12, Remmie Morrison with 8 and Scarlett Davis with 6. The Bears host Selma on Wednesday for the first round of the MEC tournament. GO BEARS!!! 8th Grade: The 8th grade girls basketball team traveled to Hagerstown Monday evening and got a hard fought win. Downing the Tigers 28-19. The ladies had a tough shooting night against a 2-3 zone but had a solid defensive effort especially in the 4th quarter out scoring the Tigers 12-2. Scoring was as follows. Mila Morris 10, Izzy McGrath 9, Gracie McCreery 5, Landry Taylor 4. The young Bears have a busy week playing Selma and Wes-Del at home Wednesday and Thursday and the MEC conference tournament Saturday at Daleville.
