Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Monroe Central Varsity Bears Victory Over Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles By GameChanger Media It came down to the wire on Tuesday at Monroe Central Jr/Sr High School, as Monroe Central Varsity Bears grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 11-10, over Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh when Levi Pence singled, scoring one run. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Monroe Central Varsity Bears collected 12 hits and Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles seven in the high-scoring affair. Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lunsford singled down the right field line, and Hunt grounded out, each scoring one run. Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles scored six runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. Buckles doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Bates doubled, scoring three runs, and an error scored one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Conner Baker, a single by Caleb Luedike, and a ground out by Pence. An error gave Monroe Central Varsity Bears the lead, 9-8, in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Bates gave Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles the lead, 10-9, in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Monroe Central Varsity Bears went back into the lead after Luedike tripled to right field, and Pence singled down the right field line, each scoring one run. Jed Ferguson pitched five innings in relief for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and two runs while, striking out six and walking two. Alex Middleton started the game for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher allowed three hits and eight runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking two. Buckles began the game for Cambridge City Lincoln Varsity Golden Eagles. The starter surrendered six hits and eight runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Monroe Central Varsity Bears amassed 12 hits in the game. Pence drove the middle of the lineup, leading Monroe Central Varsity Bears with four runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-5 on the day.
