Junior High Softball defeats Randolph Southern

Haidyn Knott Leads Monroe Central JH Past Randolph Southern JH By GameChanger Media Haidyn Knott collected three hits in three at bats, as Monroe Central JH defeated Randolph Southern JH 17-0 on Wednesday at Randolph Southern Jr./Sr. High School. Knott hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning. Monroe Central JH got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alexa Tinsman homered, scoring two runs, Brynlee Dumpert was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Mati McConnell grounded out, scoring one run, and a dropped third strike scored one run. Monroe Central JH added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Delainee Whitehead singled to center field, Whitehead stole home, McConnell singled to the right side of the infield, and Ellie Lanter grounded out, each scoring one run. Monroe Central JH added one run in the third. Randolph Southern JH dropped a third strike, making the score 10-0. Seven more Monroe Central JH runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 17-0. Knott hit a solo home run to left field, Izzy McGrath drew a walk, scoring one run, Lanter singled, scoring two runs, Alayna Dickson singled, scoring one run, and a steal of home scored two runs. Knott earned the win for Monroe Central JH. The starter surrendered two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Cora Miller took the loss for Randolph Southern JH. The reliever went three innings, allowing 12 runs on 11 hits, striking out five and walking three. Monroe Central JH tallied 14 hits in the game. Tinsman and Knott each collected three hits for Monroe Central JH. Tinsman went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. McConnell collected two hits for Monroe Central JH in three at bats. Lanter, McConnell, Dickson, Bristol Goad, Tinsman, Dumpert, McGrath, Knott, and Finley Whitehead each stole multiple bases for Monroe Central JH. Monroe Central JH stole 35 bases in the game. Taylor Lewis and Miller were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Randolph Southern JH. Randolph Southern JH were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
