Big Third Inning Leads Alexandria-Monroe Past Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears By GameChanger Media Alexandria-Monroe defeated Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears 16-3 on Wednesday thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning. Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears got on the board in the first inning after Abe Chamberlain doubled, scoring one run. Alexandria-Monroe flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kayson McPhearson on an 0-2 count that drove in two. Alexandria-Monroe scored nine runs on seven hits in the bottom of the third inning. Cooper Morgan drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Holton Oldham singled, scoring one run, Asher Heifner singled, scoring one run, Nash Simpson singled, scoring two runs, Isaiah Robinson singled, scoring one run, and Oldham grounded out, scoring one run. Logan Keith started the game for Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears. The hurler allowed 10 hits and 14 runs (eight earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking three. Robinson stepped on the mound first for Alexandria-Monroe. The starter surrendered four hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Chamberlain, Keith, Collin Baker, Jed Ferguson, and Abram Cunningham each collected one hit for Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears. Chamberlain, Baker, and Hunter Gard each drove in one run for Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears. Ferguson stole two bases. Monroe Central Junior Varsity Golden Bears turned one double play in the game. Alexandria-Monroe amassed 13 hits in the game. Oldham set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Alexandria-Monroe with three hits in four at bats. McPhearson, Heifner, and Robinson each drove in two runs for Alexandria-Monroe. Kyson Granger and Simpson each collected multiple hits for Alexandria-Monroe. Granger paced Alexandria-Monroe with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
