Monroe Central Varsity Bears Secure Win Against Northeastern By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears were triumphant over Northeastern 7-5 on Monday. Northeastern got on the board in the top of the first inning after Gavin Johnson walked, Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, and McClain flew out, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Levi Pence, and a sacrifice bunt by Isaac Middleton. Northeastern took the lead in the top of the fourth. A passed ball scored one run, to give Northeastern the edge, 4-3. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Monroe Central Varsity Bears went back into the lead after Middleton singled to left field, Alex Middleton singled down the right field line, and Carter Morris walked, each scoring one run. Middleton earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starter allowed zero hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking five. Jarrett Leitner took the loss for Northeastern. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking four. Isaacs stepped on the mound first for Northeastern. The starter surrendered five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking none. Middleton appeared in relief for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tallied 11 hits in the game. Middleton drove the middle of the lineup, leading Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Kyler Bogue, Middleton, Caleb Luedike, and Pence each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. Johnson and Leitner each collected one hit for Northeastern. Johnson, McClain, and Shaffer each drove in one run for Northeastern. Johnson led Northeastern with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Kaleb Kress, Logan Seal, and Kaleb Moore each stole multiple bases for Northeastern. Northeastern stole 10 bases in the game. Northeastern were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. K Harger made the most plays with 11.
