The Monroe Central football team on Friday night suffered a close 30-27 loss on the road to Tri. The Golden Bears (1-3) were able to jump out to a 27-22 lead with 6:44 remaining in the fourth quarter when quarterback Lane Wilson, on the very first play of the drive, found receiver Justus Ullom for a 65 yard touchdown pass. But the Titans (3-1) fought right back with a six-play, 58-yard touchdown drive of their own, getting into the end zone with a nine-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion, and hung on from there for the victory. For Monroe Central, Wilson completed 8-of-20 passes for 192 yards with two touchdowns. He had five completions of 20 or more yards. Justus Ullom led all receivers with three receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Hunt led all Golden Bear rushers with 16 rushing attempts for 64 yards and a touchdown, while Brylen Case had one touchdown receiving and rushing apiece. Defensively, Monroe Central was led by four players with double-digit tackles on the night: Cole Luedike (13), Izaiah Mangas and Travis Reed (11) and Ryder Bowlin (10). The Golden Bears next week play host to South Adams.
