Varsity Baseball falls to Adams Central in Double Header

Game 1: Monroe Central Varsity Bears Keep It Close Against Adams Central, Lose On Walkoff By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears fell to Adams Central 6-5 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears opened the scoring in the first after Jed Ferguson singled, scoring two runs. Adams Central tied the game up in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Adams Central tied the game at two on a single by Byerly. Adams Central took the lead in the bottom of the second. Miller hit a solo home run to left field, to give Adams Central the leg up, 3-2. Alex Middleton grounded out, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at three in the top of the third. A single by Byerly gave Adams Central the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Carson Siekmann flew out, and Levi Pence laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Adams Central took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Miller walked, and Monroe Central Varsity Bears committed an error, each scoring one run. Everett earned the win for Adams Central. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Carter Morris started on the bump for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and six runs (five earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. Adams Central collected eight hits, while Monroe Central Varsity Bears had 12. Monroe Central Varsity Bears lost despite out-hitting Adams Central 12 to eight. Levi Pence, Caleb Luedike, Hunter Gard, and Myles Oliphant each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears got on the board in the top of the first inning after Pence singled down the left field line, and Alex Middleton doubled down the right field line, each scoring two runs. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added three runs in the second. Pence singled down the right field line, making the score 7-3. Adams Central flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 9-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Deathe that drove in two.
