Monroe Central Varsity Bears Defeats Muncie Central On Back Of Clutch Display From Jed Ferguson By GameChanger Media Jed Ferguson drove in four runs on two hits to lead Monroe Central Varsity Bears past Muncie Central 9-6 on Friday. Ferguson singled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring one. Monroe Central Varsity Bears were the first to get on the board in the first when Caleb Luedike singled, scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI singles by Ferguson and Levi Pence. Muncie Central flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Gage Emberton that drove in two. Ferguson singled down the left field line on an 0-2 count, which helped Monroe Central Varsity Bears tie the game at five in the bottom of the fourth. Muncie Central took the lead in the top of the fifth. Mason Ferguson drew a walk, scoring one run, to give Muncie Central the leg up, 6-5. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Monroe Central Varsity Bears went back into the lead after Myles Oliphant singled to right field, Ferguson flew out, and Luedike hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Carter Morris earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two. Jaxon Conner took the loss for Muncie Central. The reliever went one inning, allowing one run on one hit, striking out none and walking two. Pence led things off on the hill for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking four. Fletcher Kahle led things off on the mound for Muncie Central. The hurler surrendered nine hits and eight runs (seven earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking eight. Monroe Central Varsity Bears accumulated 10 hits in the game. Kyler Bogue, Hunter Gard, Ferguson, and Oliphant each collected two hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Monroe Central Varsity Bears had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Pence, Luedike, Gard, and Carson Siekmann led the team with two walks each.
