Monroe Central Varsity Bears Come Up Short Against Winchester Community By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears fell to Winchester Community 9-4 on Saturday at Monroe Central Jr/Sr High School. Winchester Community were the first to get on the board in the first when Tre Weist grounded out, scoring one run. Winchester Community added one run in the second after Landen Porfidio singled to right field. Monroe Central Varsity Bears tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Carson Siekmann, and a single by Hunter Gard. Winchester Community took the lead in the top of the fifth. An error scored one run, to give Winchester Community the lead, 3-2. Monroe Central Varsity Bears took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Gard was struck by a pitch, and Caleb Luedike walked, each scoring one run. Winchester Community flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on one hit to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two. Porfidio earned the win for Winchester Community. The pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 12 and walking five. Luedike took the loss for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The hurler went six and one-third innings, surrendering eight runs (six earned) on seven hits, striking out eight and walking six. Gard led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Alex Middleton led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two hits in four at bats. Luedike led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Monroe Central Varsity Bears turned one double play in the game. B Weist, Winchester Community's number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in four at-bats. Porfidio went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. McCormac Anderson led Winchester Community with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Winchester Community ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. Winchester Community turned one double play in the game. Winchester Community didn't commit a single error in the field. Bryce Tippett had the most chances in the field with 16. Next up for Monroe Central Varsity Bears is a game at Elwood on Monday.
