Monroe Central Varsity Bears Roll Past Blackford By GameChanger Media Monroe Central Varsity Bears won big over Blackford 16-6 on Friday. Monroe Central Varsity Bears jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Levi Pence drew a walk, scoring one run, and Carson Siekmann singled, scoring two runs. Blackford captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the first after Corbin Parrott singled to the left side of the infield, Trey McIntire doubled to center field, Monroe Central Varsity Bears dropped a third strike, and Easton Massey laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Monroe Central Varsity Bears flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring seven runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Isaac Middleton that drove in two. Monroe Central Varsity Bears added one run in the third. Jed Ferguson singled down the left field line, making the score 11-4. Carter Morris earned the win for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. The righty allowed seven hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking two. Parrott took the loss for Blackford. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing 11 runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out two and walking four. Monroe Central Varsity Bears collected 12 hits in the game. Ferguson led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Caleb Luedike and Alex Middleton each collected multiple hits for Monroe Central Varsity Bears. Pence led Monroe Central Varsity Bears with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Myles Oliphant stole two bases. Monroe Central Varsity Bears stole four bases in the game. Owen Norton, Parrott, and McIntire each collected two hits for Blackford. Trenton Norton and Massey each drove in two runs for Blackford. Blackford turned one double play in the game.
