7th Grade: 7th Grade Lady Bears Battle in Season Opener at Richmond The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears opened their 2026 season Monday evening on the road against Richmond. The Bears battled hard throughout the match, falling in three sets, 14-25, 25-15, and 12-15 The Lady Bears showed determination and composure, competing well from start to finish. After dropping the opening set, Monroe Central responded with an impressive second-set victory before narrowly falling in a hard-fought deciding set. Berkley Taylor led the way from the service line with 5 aces while also adding 2 digs. Hailey Grove contributed 2 aces and 1 dig, and Cora Greene recorded 1 ace and 2 digs. Jovie Dunlap finished with 1 kill, and Jillian Goad added 1 assist. Although the season began with a close loss, the Lady Bears showed plenty of promise and proved they can compete with strong competition. They look to build on this performance as the season continues. 8th Grade: The 8th grade Lady Bears snagged a great thriller season opener on the road against Richmond. Final scores were 25-16, 19-25, 15-8. The evening was led with 6 aces and 7 assist Blakely Burge, 5 kills Delainee Whitehead, and 5 digs each Mabrey Cheesman and Alexa Tinsman. Next game is the Tuesday home opener against Shenandoah Raiders.
