The Monroe Central football team wrapped up its regular season with a 22-6 road victory over Shenandoah on a rainy Friday night in Middletown. With their third win over their last four contests, the Golden Bears end the 2023 regular season with a 4-5 record. Monroe Central, which never trailed, outgained Shenandoah 319-147 in total yardage on the night. Quarterback Lane Wilson completed 7-of-13 passes for 90 yards with one touchdown — an 11-yard strike to Brylen Case — and one interception. Justus Ullom (11 rushing attempts, 98 yards) and Jerimiah Ullom (10 rushing attempts, 71 yards, two touchdowns) led the ground attack for the Golden Bears. Defensively, Monroe Central was led by Elijah Goodspeed, who had six tackles and two sacks on the night. Justice Davis had seven tackles and a sack, while Izaiah Mangas and Julius Ullom each had fumble recoveries. Monroe Central also forced an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone to earn a safety to get on the scoreboard, 2-0, in the second quarter. The Golden Bears next week travel to take on Union City in the first round of sectional play.
