The Tigers from Alexandria traveled to the Bear Den this evening for a JV/Varsity matchup. The Varsity match started very close. It was back and forth throughout the entire first set but the Tigers pulled out a slim victory with a score of 24-26. The Golden Bears fought right back and battled in set 2 and were able to secure the win in that set with a score of 25-22. From there, sadly, the Golden Bears were met with injuries to deal with. Two injuries this evening caused the Varsity team to have to put in players who have not had much, if any Varsity time this season. They definitely stepped up to the occasion and did everything that was asked of them. The Tigers were able to capitalize on the opportunity and ended up winning the match 1-3 with scores of 24-26, 25-22, 14-25, and 12-25. The Golden Bears defense once again looked strong this evening and the team put together 64 digs. The offense also deserves some mention as there were team totals of 26 kills and 24 assists. This squad has made some big adjustments over the last few days and they are greeting these changes with an open mind and are starting to see the benefits of that. The Golden Bears will be back in action on Thursday (9/10) when the host the Bearcats from Muncie Central. The JV match is scheduled to begin at 6:00p.m.
