Both Junior High Girls Basketball teams defeat Shenandoah

7th Grade: The MC 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team continued their solid play with a 39-16 victory over Shenandoah. After a slow start that saw the bears down 5-0, excellent defense was key to jump starting a 25-2 run that ultimately sealed the game by halftime. Great ball movement and unselfish play resulted in 10 team assists, led by Lucy Huston’s 3 to go along with 10 points and 6 steals. Gracie McCreery added 2 assists to go along with 4 points and 3 steals. Mila Morris had an assist to go along with 10 points, 2 steals and 3 rebounds. Landry Taylor had 6 rebounds to go with 3 steals and 4 points. Izzy McGrath had 7 rebounds to go with 4 points and Claire Cheesman had a great defensive effort with 3 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 points. The girls play again on Thursday, traveling to Daleville for another conference matchup. Go Bears! 8th Grade: The 8th grade Lady Bears were on fire Tuesday night with a big win against conference foe Shenandoah. The Lady Bears torched the nets for 32pts in the first half, while their stifling defense held their opponent to only 7 first half pts. When the final buzzer sounded the Lady Bears came out victorious with a final score of 45-14. Abree Ervin had a great night with 15 pts, all in the first half, to go along with 9 steals, Brynlee Patterson scored 8 pts while dishing out 3 assists to her teammates, Oaklei Davis got the team pumped up with winning the jump ball that led to a quick bucket, she added 7pts and 4 rebounds. Charlee Morris played tough while scoring 6 pts. and adding a game high 5 rebounds. Brylie Tinsman came off the bench to get 5 steals to add to her 6pts. Abby Thomas swished a 3 pointer, while Hayden Dumpert, Lillian Konkle, and Kayleigh Epperhart played a solid game while helping push the team to a 2-0 record to start the season.
