Monroe Central 36, Wes-Del 0 With the wind howling and the rain pouring Friday night in Gaston, the Monroe Central football team dominated its rivalry matchup against Wes-Del, shutting out the Warriors 36-0 to bring the Harvest Helmet back down Ind. 32 to its rightful home. The Golden Bears (5-1) controlled the game from the start on both sides of the ball, finishing with 384 total yards of offense to just 73 for the host Warriors. The weather dictated playcalling on Friday night, leading to a run-heavy approach for Monroe Central, which was led by Jerimiah Ullom, who had nine carries for 121 yards with a touchdown—a 74-yard sprint on a pitch play in the first quarter that gave the Golden Bears a 6-0 led they wouldn’t relinquish. Justus Ullom also added 10 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Lane Wilson added a rushing touchdown of his own. Kaden Sullivan broke free for an 84-yard rushing touchdown with the game well in hand in the fourth quarter. Wilson completed 3-of-7 passes for 44 yards and touchdown—an eight-yard play to Carter Duncan. Peyton Farmer led the Monroe Central defense with an unofficial 13 tackles and two forced fumbles. Jerimiah Ullom had eight tackles, including three for a loss, while Luke Anderson had a fumble recovery. The Golden Bears return to action next week as they play host to Eastern Hancock.
