Eastern Hancock 52, Monroe Central 14 The Monroe Central football team fell to Mid-Eastern Conference foe Eastern Hancock 52-14 Friday night in Parker City. The Golden Bears (5-2) put up a strong effort early, thwarting an early Royals drive with a big run stuff on 4th and 1, and then taking a 7-6 lead at the 2:16 mark of the first quarter, as quarterback Lane Wilson found Carter Duncan for a 13-yard touchdown reception. Eastern Hancock quickly responded with a series of explosive plays, however, scoring 26 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a commanding 32-7 halftime lead. Monroe Central showed some life in the third quarter when Jerimiah Ullom broke free for a 69-yard touchdown run, cutting the deficit to 38-14 after another extra point from Nick Hendrickson. However, the Royals (4-3) continued to control the game with two more scores, effectively sealing the victory. The Golden Bears collected 247 yards of total offense on the night, as Wilson completed 3-of-13 passes for 54 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Jerimiah Ullom — who led the rushing attack with eight carries for 125 yards and a touchdown — also added a 49-yard pass on Monroe Central’s lone scoring drive of the first half. Duncan had two receptions on six targets for 62 yards and a touchdown. Peyton Farmer led the Monroe Central defense with an unofficial nine tackles, including a solo stop for a loss of two yards. The Golden Bears look to rebound next Friday, as they play host to Irvington Preparatory Academy in their second-to-last matchup of the regular season.
