Varsity Football defeats Irvington Preparatory Academy

Monroe Central 45, Irvington Preparatory Academy 0 The Monroe Central football team wrapped up the home portion of its 2024 regular season schedule Friday night with a dominant 45-0 win over Irvington Preparatory Academy. The Golden Bears (6-2) scored on every offensive possession in the ballgame but their final one, including going touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, field goal (on first down), touchdown on their first five drives of the game to take a commanding 31-0 lead going into halftime. Much of the second half featured a running clock after Monroe Central scored another touchdown early in the third quarter. The Golden Bears racked up 425 yards of total offense on the night, while limiting the Ravens to -4 total yards. Monroe Central accumulated 350 yards on the ground, led by Jerimiah Ullom, who had four carries for 129 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Hunt (50 yards) ran both of his rushing attempts into the end zone, while Caleb Luedike had a 58-yard rushing touchdown on his lone carry, Kaden Sullivan (five carries, 20 yards) also added a rushing touchdown, and Carson Siekmann recovered his own fumbled snap late in the ballgame and ran it in from about 10 yards out. Quarterback Lane Wilson completed 4-of-5 pass attempts for 55 yards, while Siekmann completed his only pass attempt for 20 yards. The Monroe Central defense was led by Ullom, who had three sacks on the night. Caden Dance snagged his first interception, while Elijah Goodspeed had a sack to go along with three total tackles for loss. Nick Hendrickson had a strong outing kicking the football on Friday night, as he hit all six of his extra-point attempts and also converted a 30-yard field goal. The Golden Bears wrap up their regular season next Friday, as they travel to Middletown to take on Shenandoah.
