7th Grade: The 7th grade Lady Bears played a tough Delta Eagles team last night in the Den and came away with a hard fought victory 26-20. The Bears found themselves down at halftime for the first time this year 12-5. They were down 16-12 after 3 quarters but turned it on in the 4th out scoring the Eagles 14-4 to wrap up the last game leading into the Holiday break and to move their record to 9-0. Landry Taylor and Claire Cheeseman led the scoring with 7, Mati McConnell 6, Izzy McGrath 3, Mila Morris 2 and Brynlee Dumpert 1. 8th Grade: The 8th Grade Lady Bears hosted Delta on Wednesday evening and squeaked out a win in the Bear Den, beating the visitors 17-15 in a low scoring defensive battle. The Bears fought a lidded basket the first half of the contest, but they were able to hold their opponent to 7 first half points and ended the half tied. The third quarter mirrored the previous half, with the Bears only scoring 2 points on 2-10 shooting from the charity stripe, but they held Delta scoreless and started the final period up 2. A slow start to the final period saw the Bears get down by as many as 5 points, but a late offensive charge fueled by tough full court pressure turned the game in MC’s favor and the Bears held on for the victory. Claire Cheesman led all scorers with 9. Mila Morris had 3 to go with several late game defensive stops. Brynlee Dumpert and Landry Taylor both played hard-nosed defensive and had 2 points each. Lucy Huston rounded off the scoring with 1 and several defensive stops of her own. Izzy McGrath’s paint presence altered and blocked several shots and secured several rebounds for the team. Gracie McCreery, Elena Simms, Ada Wagner, Bristol Goad, Lillie Moery, Mati McConnell and Arianna Carroll all floor time and contributed to the win! The Lady Bears will enjoy a long Christmas break and will return to action on January 7th when they travel to Tri. GO BEARS!!!
