7th Grade: The Monroe Central 7th grade boys basketball team defeated the Cowan Blackhawks Thursday night by a score of 31-26 in the MEC Quarterfinals to advance to the MEC Semifinals on Saturday. Luke Morgan led the Bears in scoring with 16, while Westin Grove added 8 and Peyton Chamness added 5. The Bears move to 11-3 and will play Wes-Del Saturday morning at Blue River. 8th Grade: The 8th grade boys lost a hard fought game to Cowan last night in the MEC tournament 42 to 37. The game was close throughout with neither team able to pull away. The Bears effort throughout the game was as good as it has been all year. A balanced scoring effort was led by Pierceton Erwin with 10 followed by Conner Baker and Caden Dance with 9 each and Maddox Taylor with 8. The Bears return to the court on Tuesday night for their final home game of the season against Northeastern.
